High Performance Geosynthetics
Geofabrics Limited was formed in 1990 at the time when the landfill industry was making the transition from dilute and disperse to engineered containment. The use of geomembrane barriers to provide this containment meant that high-performance protection was required to prevent their puncture. There were no manufacturers of this type of geotextile in the United Kingdom and the company was established to fill this void. Geofabrics is now a worldwide supplier of a comprehensive range of geosynthetics for different applications.
Our goal is to to design, manufacture and supply goods and services that exceed the expectations of the customer for both value and service. We aim to maintain the highest possible levels of product and service quality; to be an innovative, leading international supplier of Geotextiles and Geotextile related products through all aspects of the company activities, involving every individual employee.
To assist in these aims, a quality system is available to all employees and compliance of all parts is expected. Our aim, through a philosophy of continuous improvement is to set, achieve and review company objectives, whilst maintaining the confidence of our customers. Product development is achieved by analysing the customer’s application, determining the properties that are required, manufacturing the solution and testing it to prove it meets those performance criteria.
Today the company manufacturers a diverse portfolio of world class leading geotextiles, cuspates and geocomposites, supplied into a wide range of civil engineering applications.
- Geotextiles: Geofabrics' geotextiles were conceived with optimum performance in mind i.e. maximum performance for minimum weight. Rather than offering products with specific unit weights, individual grades are manufactured to achieve performance-related values. When designing with a geotextile it is the mechanical and hydraulic properties that are the most important, not weight, to achieve value engineering – the least material to perform the design function(s). The main characteristics that prompt engineers to specify Geofabrics’ products time and again are their robustness – any damage to a geotextile is more likely to be generated during installation, not in service – and their proven ability to provide sustained protection, separation and filtration in the harshest conditions. Whether it’s as a filter beneath rock armour on the Atlantic coast or as a protector at the base of a deep landfill sitting in toxic leachate. Geofabrics’ geotextiles have a long track record of unrivalled performance.
- Cuspates and Cuspate Composites: Geofabrics cuspates are used to provide a void space for the passage of either a liquid or a gas. The manufacturing process involves the forming of a sheet into either cups or studs, with a variety of heights and spacing which determine the size and area of the void. It is common for a cuspate to be used as a component in a geocomposite, used in conjunction with a geotextile filter.
- Geocomposites: Geofabrics geocomposites are multi-layered combinations of geosynthetics. These combinations give benefi ts over individual layers by enhancing functions, increasing interface friction angles and increasing the speed of installation. With careful design they can provide drainage, protection, reinforcement, filtration and barrier functions and replace expensive and scarce mineral resources.

Geofabrics has an on-site UKAS accredited testing laboratory No. 1773, where we perform testing according to key geosynthetic standards.
UKAS is the sole national accreditation body for the United Kingdom and recognised by government to assess internationally agreed standards organisations that provide certification, testing, inspection and calibration services.
Accreditation by UKAS demonstrates the competence, impartiality and performance capability of our laboratory.
