Services to the geosynthetics industry
Represents The Chartered Institution of Waste Management on BSI committee B/553 for geotextiles and geomembranes and through the committee represents the United Kingdom on similar CEN and ISO committees.
He is also a voting member of ASTM D35 committee on geotextiles. All these committees are concerned with the production of standards for the testing of geotextiles and geomembranes. A founder member of the UK section of the International Geotextiles Society he has given numerous lectures on the application of geotextiles together with writing early papers and design guidance methods. Committee member UK study by CIRIA on reinforced grass spillways using geosythetics.
Current
Managing Director of GEOfabrics Ltd. Robert is responsible for all aspects of the business. He set up the GEOfabrics company and designed the key geotextiles to meet the specific requirements of the landfill and coastal markets.
Previous
Robert has over twenty years experience in the development and use of geotextiles starting with continuous filament heat bonded geotextiles with the original Terram team at ICI in 1976. He moved onto woven fabrics when he became the General Manager of Don and Low's geotextile division.
Robert has a comprehensive knowledge of the geotextiles industry.
The geotextiles experience is backed by over twelve years experience of heavy civil engineering contracting mostly with Tarmac Construction rising from Junior Engineer to Contracts Manager on motorways, roads, bridges, dockworks, airfields etc.. His last appointment was General Manager of Tarmac Environmental Services.
Other activities
Robert owns a Westfield sports car and enjoys racing against the clock on hill climbs at various venues around the country. He is always pleased when friends of GEOfabrics come to watch.
